You sit in a chair,
And it swivels around;
Your eyes start to gaze
At the hair on the ground.

You wait for the man
Who will soon cut your hair,
Except the thought of his scissors
Give you quite a scare!

You hold your locks tight,
And wish the barber away;
Though you know that you'll
Have to get your hair cut someday.

Melanie Peters
age 12 from Canada

Life is beautiful and full of love
we are all sent here from the man above
animals so small and children too
will all grow up just like you
to be strong and happy and make their dreams come true
and thats the end of my poem to you

Bethany Grace Mills
age 9 from England

PEACE
I had a dream:
The elephants are running free
And the lions and the tigers.

The children are playing on the roads.
The birds are singing happily.
Men and women are walking in the parks.

Peace is an important thing
And everybody should know it
And try to save it!

Ilian Ivailov
9
Vratza, Bulgaria

I have a dream:
To be all people happy in the world,
We must say ‘Stop’ to war.
No more wars in this world!

No more tears on children’s cheeks.
I don’t want to see pain
And sadness in their eyes any more.

Without peace the birds will not sing,
There will be pain in our hearts.
I want peace in the world.

Preslav Plamenov
9
Vratza, Bulgaria

May there will be funny balloons flying,
May there will be flowers on the earth,
May there will be children on the earth,
May there will be peace on the earth!

Anti Whaling Poem

Swimming through the ocean we hear their silent plea
please I beg you leave and do no harm to me
Yet still we kill them for our daily needs
why that is the question , a question strange indeed
But we need to answer it before they are all gone
and if we do not quickly I'm afraid that won't be long
Put an end to this meaningless slaughter
and in return will be a gift beyond anyone's dreams
a fuller brighter sea!

Maisie Buckley
11, England

BROTHER

When you first looked at me I knew that you really had loved me
You grabbed my hand for the first time and you didn't want to let go
You took your very first steps and looked at me like you were so proud
You said my name for the very first time and I looked at you and smiled

And you smiled back at me
I am proud to be your big sister and I love you!

Amanda Wszolek, age 12 from Redford

THE LITTLE BOY

I look out my window and
What do I see
A little boy
Who looks up at me
Dressed in rags
Has no shoes
Reminds me of someone
I once knew

I look out my window
What do I see
A teenage boy
Looking back at me
Walking with his dog
Dressed in all blue
Reminds me of someone
I once knew

I look out my window
What do I see
A young man with a stroller
Looking up at me
Pushing a baby boy
Walking with his wife
Laughing together
Now he has a good life

Here I am
That little boy
All grown up
Can’t play with a toy
I realize now
You can’t judge a person
By cloths, money, or family
But accept them as they are
And they will forever
Keep you in their heart

Jordan Essman & Katie Shoppell, age 12 from Angola

what a moving poem - well done Jordan and Katie

SPRING

People mowing
Tadpoles growing

Hedgehogs waking
Ice is breaking

Squirrels playing
Foals neighing

Lambs bleating
Caterpillars eating

Pretty Flowers
Wind and showers

Blossom falling
Birds calling

Washing drying
Butterflies flying

Bees are humming
Spring is coming

by Alex, age 8, from Hertfordshire in England

what a lovely poem - well done

the sun the stars
Jupiter Mars
that really bright
rainbow with a pot of gold
or so I've been told
what is the world without the butterflies
the blue sky
daisies to make a chain
to water the plants there is rain
so think what it would be like
shut your eyes tight
and realize how lucky we are

Alana, age 10 from Derbyshire

HUMPTY DUMPTY

Humpty Dumpty sat on a chair.
Humpty Dumpty flew up in the air.
Naughty young Larry chuckled with glee,
Just what I wanted -
Omelette for tea

Little Miss Moon.

Little Miss Moon knitting the night,
Stitching the stars with all of her might,
So everyone can see her light,
As she creeps across the starlit sky,
While watching the world go by.

by Codie Taylor- aged 11 also from Cornwall

WHAT IS CHOCOLATE?

Chocolate is a treasure
hiding in the cupboard

Chocolate is a delicious smell
floating on the air

Chocolate is smooth water
being poured from a jug

Chocolate is a piece of ice
melting in your mouth

Chocolate is gluey mess
sticking on your fingers
