Talking Turkeys
Benjamin Zephaniah
Be nice to yu turkeys dis christmas
Cos' turkeys just wanna hav fun
Turkeys are cool, turkeys are wicked
An every turkey has a Mum.
Be nice to yu turkeys dis christmas,
Don't eat it, keep it alive,
It could be yu mate, an not on your plate
Say, Yo! Turkey I'm on your side.
I got lots of friends who are turkeys
An all of dem fear christmas time,
Dey wanna enjoy it, dey say humans destroyed it
An humans are out of dere mind,
Yeah, I got lots of friends who are turkeys
Dey all hav a right to a life,
Not to be caged up an genetically made up
By any farmer an his wife.
Cos' turkeys just wanna hav fun
Turkeys are cool, turkeys are wicked
An every turkey has a Mum.
Be nice to yu turkeys dis christmas,
Don't eat it, keep it alive,
It could be yu mate, an not on your plate

Not to be caged up an genetically made up
By any farmer an his wife.
Turkeys just wanna play reggae
Turkeys just wanna hip-hop
Can yu imagine a nice young turkey saying,
'I cannot wait for de chop',
Turkeys like getting presents, dey wanna watch christmas TV,
Turkeys hav brains an turkeys feel pain
In many ways like yu an me.

But it's nothing to do wid Christ Mass
Humans get greedy an waste more dan need be
An business men mek loadsa cash'.

Tiger Tiger
William Blake
Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?
Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
MY DOG MISSES CHURCH

Mrs Susan Brougher Somerset, PA
When we go
To church
My dog
Stays at home
Daddy says
God made her too
So why
Can't she
Lay in my pew
She listens
Real good
And for a bone
She'll sit alone
If she barks
When I sing
It means
She likes
Everything!
CROCODILE
Matt Goodfellow, Manchester, UK
My skin is as gnarled as a knobbly tree
but my bite is much worse than my bark.
Come snooping too close to my watering hole
and I'll smuggle you into the dark -
where I'll wrestle the breath
from your chest in the depths
and soften you under a rock.
Cold-blooded killer
a flesh-tearing thriller -
I'm merciless, murderous

Croc
Croc. Snout Wrong Wi You, Pal!
by Matt Goodfellow, Manchester
Cats look down on you, dogs look up at you,
but pigs treat human beings as equal.
(Winston Churchill)
Cat glares down at me,
disdainful daggered eyes.
Dog moons up at me,
agog with panting pride.
But Piggy-Wig
with bristled back
thinks both of us are brill
shuffles sideways in the mud
to share his trough of swill.
